Who this policy covers
This policy describes information handled when you visit Learnzi’s public website, apply to teach, sign in to check an application, or contact the Learnzi team. It also identifies the additional information relevant to the wider teaching service. The public registration form does not collect every category listed for that wider service.
For privacy questions and requests, contact Learnzi Support at [email protected] or +94 76 262 0439. This policy takes effect on 2 November 2026.
Information we collect
The teacher application asks for your full name, email, Sri Lankan mobile number, NIC number, O/L and/or A/L teaching levels, subjects, teaching language, qualifications, optional experience and a password. We also record your acceptance of the terms and the policy version, submission time, account reference, and confirmation and approval status.
Your NIC is used for teacher identity and application review. It is stored separately from your public profile and is not displayed to students or used for advertising. The registration checks the structure of the number; it does not automatically verify government records or establish ownership.
Passwords are handled by the authentication service. They are not stored in the teacher application table, and Learnzi Support should never ask you to reveal one.
When you contact support, your message, contact information and any details you choose to share become part of that interaction. Avoid sending student-sensitive information, identity documents or full payment credentials through general support messages.
In the wider teaching service, information may include teacher profiles, class or study-pack content, enrolments, learning activity, exam responses, results, bank details, and transaction or payout records when those features are used. Payable processes card payments; Learnzi uses relevant transaction references, amounts and status information to administer payments, payouts, refunds and disputes. Do not provide card security details through general support.
Why information is used
Application and account information is used to create and authenticate accounts, confirm email addresses, review teaching applications, show approval status, control access and respond to support requests. Security-related information may be used to investigate abuse and protect accounts.
For the teaching service, relevant information is used to provide the classes, recordings, exams, progress features and payment services that a user requests. Financial and dispute records may also be needed to meet applicable obligations and resolve transaction issues.
Learnzi may use information you deliberately make public, such as a public teacher profile, subject description or published class listing, to advertise Learnzi and its teaching offerings. Private application information, NICs, student records and non-public recordings are not covered by that use. Contact support to raise a concern about promotional use. Any additional permission required by applicable law will be obtained.
Accepting the terms is not blanket consent to unrelated marketing. Information is used to provide requested services, review applications, protect users and meet applicable obligations, and on consent where consent is required for a particular use.
Storage and international processing
Learnzi uses hosted infrastructure, and information can be stored or processed outside Sri Lanka as part of hosting, authentication, security, communications and delivery. We do not represent that all information stays in Sri Lanka.
International processing must satisfy the safeguards and other requirements applicable to it at the time. Contact Learnzi Support for questions about processing locations and the arrangements relevant to your information.
Cookies, browser storage and technical data
The current public website source includes no advertising trackers or optional analytics integration. The authentication service persists signed-in sessions in browser storage so you can return to check your application. Signing out ends the local session.
Hosting and authentication services process technical request information necessary to serve and secure the service, which can include IP addresses, device or browser details and request metadata. Registration also uses temporary records to complete requests and limit abuse.
You can clear site storage or restrict it through your browser, although this may sign you out or prevent account features from working. Any future optional tracking must be disclosed and any required consent obtained before use.
Retention and security
The application uses authenticated access and database access rules to restrict teacher application records. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee that every service, device or transmission is completely secure.
Information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose: application and identity review, operating an active account, providing purchased access, resolving disputes, preventing fraud and meeting applicable record-keeping obligations. Different record types may require different retention periods. Records no longer needed should be deleted or anonymised; backup copies may remain until the relevant backup cycle expires.
You can request account closure or deletion through support. This is not instant removal of every copy: legal obligations, unresolved payments, disputes and security requirements may justify retaining particular records. Learnzi will explain relevant limitations when handling your request.
Contact Learnzi if you believe your account or information has been compromised. Do not include your password, payment PIN or one-time security codes in the report.
Your requests and choices
Contact Learnzi to ask about the information associated with your account, request a correction, or request account closure or deletion. Describe the request without including unnecessary sensitive data. Learnzi may need to verify your identity before acting or disclosing account information.
Requests are assessed against the law applicable at the time, other people’s rights and lawful retention requirements. You can request access, correction, deletion or a review of how information is used, and withdraw consent for a use based on consent, subject to applicable limitations. The statutory rights and complaint routes available under Sri Lankan data protection law depend on the provisions in force when you make a request. Contact support if you are unhappy with how a request was handled.
Students and young people
Students under 18 may use Learnzi; there is no blanket 18+ student restriction. Parents or guardians should help young students understand the service, manage payments and provide permission where applicable law requires it. Teachers must hold a Sri Lankan NIC and provide their own number during application.
Student information and recordings are not treated as public advertising material simply because a student participates in a class. Private grades, responses, contact details and identifiable student recordings must be protected. Do not publish or promote a child’s identity or work without the permissions required for that use.
Teachers must protect students’ privacy and obtain any necessary permissions before recording or publishing identifiable student information. If you believe information about a child has been provided or used inappropriately, contact Learnzi promptly.
Policy updates and contact
The effective date appears on this page. If the purposes or handling of information change, Learnzi will update the policy and provide any notice or request for consent required by applicable law. Material changes will be communicated appropriately.
For privacy requests, promotional-use concerns or questions about your information, contact Learnzi Support at [email protected] or +94 76 262 0439.
